Visiting: Yangon / Naypyitaw / Pindaya / Inle Lake / Bagan / Mandalay
“This is Burma, it is quite unlike any place you know about”—Rudyard Kipling.
Following my recent inspection tour of Burma, I have decided that, due to some local conditions and to improve the itinerary, a few changes need to be made. I have added one extra day to the tour (no extra cost) to take in a visit to Naypyitaw, Myanmar’s new capital city. We also must visit the charming former colonial hill town of Kalaw on the scenic route to Pindaya.
Please have a look at the itinerary below:
Burma, also known as Myanmar and formerly fondly referred to as the “Golden Land” for its excessive use of gold. Schwedaggon Pagoda was said to be covered in 60 tons of pure gold!
Burma’s lush landscape, with backdrops of endless green hills, encompassing vast fertile plains and mighty waterways, lies largely undiscovered to the outside world. Bordering India, China, Tibet, Laos and Cambodia, and with a century of colonialism, Burma is influenced by an array of cultures intertwined with local traditions. But at the heart of Burma is its Buddhist culture and a treasure trove of exotic pagodas and temples awaits you.
Burma has stood still for decades due to political turmoil, but now with recent positive developments, it is a country opening up to tourism at breakneck speed. Our tour of Burma is the perfect introduction to the essential sights such as her archaeological relics from a bygone era, her faded colonial palaces and villas, tranquil Inle Lake shadowed by Himalayan peaks, and the mystical Irrawaddy River. It is one of the last unexplored exotic places in Asia you must see, before it is spoiled by mass tourism.
