Due to popular demand for a two week tour, “China Highlights” is specially designed to introduce you to the very best of China and the wonderful sights that Beijing, Xian and Shanghai have to offer.

We begin our tour with the Imperial splendours of Beijing , the modern capital of China . The next city we visit is the ancient capital of Xian, site of the world famous Terracotta Army and Horses of Emperor Qing Shi Huang, and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road .

From here we fly to mighty Shanghai, a city of unique charm and characteristics, one of the worlds most famous and popular cities renowned for its colourful past.


Itinerary


Day 1
Depart Dublin to Beijing.


Day 2 Beijing (-/-/D)
Arrive Beijing in the morning, where you will be met by our Chinese guide. Visit the Temple of Heaven before transferring to the excellent and centrally located Beijing New Otani Hotel***** (or similar) for 5 nights.


Day 3 Beijing (B/L/D)
Full day excursion to the formidable Great Wall of China (one of the great wonders of the world) and  to the Ming Tombs . The group will also be taken to a Cloisonne and a Jade factory. The evening meal will be a traditional Peking Duck dinner.


Day 4 Beijing (B/L/D)
In the morning visit Tian An Men Square and the Forbidden City. In the afternoon, explore the maze of old city lanes known as Hutongs.


Day 5 Beijing (B/L/D)
Full day excursion to the beautiful and serene Summer Palace and Beijing Zoo to see the Pandas. You will also be taken to the Beijing Olympic Village to view the Birds Nest Stadium and the Water Cube.


Day 6 Beijing (B/–/–)
At leisure. Free time to relax, take in some shopping, sightseeing etc.


Day 7 Beijing / Xian (B/L/D)
This morning the group will travel by High Speed Train to Xian. Visit Xian City Wall before transferring to the Titan Times Hotel****(or similar) for 2 nights. Enjoy an evening performance of Tang Dynasty music and dance.


Day 8 Xian (B/L/D)
Full day programme to include visits to the site of the world renowned Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Emperor Qing Shi Huang, the Great Mosque and the Muslim Quarter.


Day 9 Xian / Shanghai (B/L/D)
Morning flight to Shanghai.
Take a stroll along the much acclaimed and historic waterfront district known as The Bund. Stay in the city centre at the excellent Jinjiang Tower Hotel*****(or similar) for 3 nights.


Day 10 Shanghai ( B/L/D)
Sightseeing today will include the Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Old Town and Pudong Development Zone. Take a lift to the top of the Oriental Pearl Tower, the landmark of Shanghai, for a breathtaking view of the city.


Day 11 Shanghai (B/-/-)
At leisure. Time to relax, visit musuems, join one of the many optional tours available or do some last minute shopping etc.


Day 12
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your return flights, arriving back in Dublin on the same day.

Note: Due to flight schedules, some tour dates (as indicated in *red) will arrive and begin the tour in Shanghai and end in Beijing. The number of days in each city and the sightseeing programme will remain unchanged.    A revised itinerary for tours beginning in Shanghai will be provided.
